The following links are more related with my personal interests than with my research activity. They are provided in no particular order.

Top of page Dictionaries

  • Acronyms and Abbreviations, a resource where you can find the extended meaning of even rarely used abbreviations. It has never failed on any query I have performed. Always been wondering what "HPPT" means? Here is where you can find it out.
  • Garzanti Linguistica, a very good italian, italian-to-english, and english-to-italian online dictionary. Requires free registration.
  • Merriam-Webster Online, an online english dictionary with thesaurus and a lot of other nice features.

Top of page Emulators

  • Netkit, a lightweight emulator targeted at closely reproducing the behavior of network services and protocols. Comes with a set of self runnable virtual network experiences that allow to immediately experiment with specific case studies.
I am actively involved in the development of this product.
  • VirtualBox, an excellent x86 machine emulator capable of providing nearly native performance with a wide range of guest operating systems. Available for both Linux and Windows and free for personal use. Most of the code is open source.
  • QEMU, a very fast and feature rich open source machine emulator that can also act as a virtualizer.
  • Bochs, an open source project to emulate IA-32 architectures. The same project also provides PC and VGA BIOS images that can be used in other emulation products.

Top of page Free CD/DVD Burning Software for Windows

  • ImgBurn, a feature reach burning software with plenty of options to play with or well placed default settings to burn on the fly. Nearly everything that could be needed for burning any CD/DVD is supported in this software. Unfortunately, the creation of multisession discs is not.
  • JetBee, a nice piece of software with a balanced number of features including support for multisession and UDF discs.
  • CDBurnerXP, an interesting software with a rather easy to use interface. Pity that it does not support the UDF filesystem (hence, it is impossible to produce standard Video DVDs).
  • InfraRecorder, another interesting software with a usable interface. However, consider that I had bad luck in making it recognize my DVD burner and, again, UDF support may not be there yet.
