The esiest performance measurement you can check is to run the self-test that is distributed with the commercial license of GDToolkit and observe the time that it takes to run all the tests (see Download & installation details). Consider that the self-test explores (several times) a couple of different layout algorithms on a set of 33 graphs, so that it can require several minutes of computation time

The following are the results that we obtained on our platforms:

Hardware Operating System Compiler CPU-time in seconds
(average values)
IBM PC Pentium II 350Mhz
(256Mb RAM)
Linux RedHat 6 GNU egcs 1.0.2 331
IBM PC Pentium II 350Mhz
(256Mb RAM)
Linux RedHat 5.2 GNU egcs 1.0.2 352
IBM PC Pentium II 350Mhz

Visual C++ 6.0 Windows 95 425
Sun SPARC Ultra I
(64Mb RAM)
Solaris 5.5.1 GNU egcs 1.1.1 1,077
