The GD Steering Committee invites bids to host the International
Symposium on Graph Drawing and Network Visualization,GD, to be held in
September 2018.
Graph Drawing is concerned with the geometric representation of graphs
and networks, the algorithmic methods, and the system design paradigms
for visualizing them. It is motivated by applications where it is
crucial to visually analyze and interact with relational data-sets.
Examples of such application areas include social sciences, data
science, Internet and Web computing, information systems, information
security, computational biology, networking, VLSI circuit design, and
software engineering.
The first informal edition of the Symposium on Graph Drawing was held in
Marino, Italy, in 1992. Since then, the Symposium has become the
flagship conference of the graph drawing community; it is a 3-day event
typically held in September and it has formal proceedings where high
quality papers are published every year. A special issue of the Journal
of Graph Algorithms and Applications that collects some of the best
papers presented at the conference is also published every year.
The Symposium has two tracks: one track is devoted to fundamental graph
drawing advances, such as combinatorial aspects and algorithm design; a
second track is devoted to the practical aspects of graph drawing, such
as the development of network visualization systems and interfaces in
different application areas. See also http://www.graphdrawing.org/ for
additional information about previous editions of the conference.
If you are interested in hosting the Symposium for year 2018, please
follow the guidelines in the document attached to this e-mail. Do not
hesitate to contact me, should you need any further details about this
opportunity.
Best regards,
Giuseppe Liotta
